Bridal Hair Trail FAQs
-
We recommend waiting until you have chosen your wedding venue and dress before doing your trial. These will help to determine the feel of your wedding day and we can best compliment the neckline and style of your dress with the look you choose.
If you already have a sense of how you’d like to wear your hair or have your makeup done for your wedding date and want to come in for your trial before booking, please feel free to do so.
Keep in mind, your date is not secured until the deposit and contract are received so please be sure to get an appointment as soon as possible to avoid risking losing the date beforehand.
-
Each bridal trial is scheduled for one hour per service (hair and/or makeup) and is included in your bridal package. One hour is the perfect amount of time to complete one full look.
If you'd like to try more than one style during your trial, just let us know in advance—we’re happy to extend the appointment time for an additional fee.
-
We recommend wearing a white or light-colored top with a similar neckline to your wedding dress—it helps you get a more accurate feel for the overall look. If you’re doing a makeup trial, come with a clean, moisturized face. For hair, clean, dry hair is best. And don’t forget to bring any accessories you plan to wear, like a veil or hairpiece!
-
Hair accessories can be such a fun and beautiful finishing touch—but choosing the right one depends on your wedding style. The best time to decide is during your trial, when you can see the full look come together.
I have a selection of gorgeous hair pieces available for you to try and purchase at your appointment. I also love working with fresh florals like baby’s breath, spray roses, or greenery like eucalyptus—they’re affordable, timeless, and always photograph beautifully.
-
Absolutely! Your trial includes enough time to complete one full look for hair and/or makeup. If you’d like to explore more than one style, just let us know ahead of time—we can extend your appointment for an additional fee to make sure there’s enough time to play and perfect your options.
-
Yes you 100% can and should!
-
Yes! Everyone receiving hair and makeup services is welcome to choose the style they feel most confident and comfortable in. If you’d prefer your bridal party to stick to a specific look—or want to avoid certain styles—just let me know in advance so we can help guide the choices.
To keep the morning running smoothly, we ask for the names of everyone getting their hair done, a brief description of their hair, and how they’d like it styled. This helps us prepare the right tools and timing. Here are two quick examples:
Ashley, bridesmaid with long, thick hair past her shoulders — wants a half-up, half-down style with curls.
Christine, mother of the bride with chin-length, fine hair — wants a blowout.
-
Definitely—but keep it subtle! You don’t want to do anything wildly different than you’re used to before the big day. If you color your hair regularly, a fresh touch-up is a must. If you've never colored before but are considering it, adding soft, natural highlights is a great way to enhance dimension in a subtle and low commitment way that will really help show off the detail in your wedding style.
Plan to have any color work done no further than two weeks before your wedding, so it look its freshest. If you’re not already a color client, I recommend reaching out at least two months in advance to book your color appointment.
Still unsure? Fill out my new client form on the Say Hello page—we can set up a consult to talk through your options and the upkeep involved with each look.
Extensions FAQs
-
Yes! I offer temporary clip-in extensions for purchase or rental.
-
Many brides do not intend to use hair extensions beyond their wedding day as they are intimidated by the thought of styling and installing the hair. This is why I offer a rental option that is a much more affordable way to still achieve a long and voluminous look on your big day without having to commit to a significant investment.
I have a range of colors to match most hair colors, including platinum blonde, dimensional blonde, light brown with blonde highlight, medium brown, and dark brown. The rental extensions vary between 18-20 inches in length.
-
If renting the extensions limits you from the color or length of extensions that you would like and the idea of having your own set sounds fun; I can help you to purchase the perfect set for your hair color and thickness.
Your extension purchase will include an appointment to teach you how to install them yourself and style them. If cutting is required, that would be an additional charge.
Extensions start at $300.
-
Leave this part to me! Whether purchasing or renting, I can do a custom color match based on an in-person consultation or through evaluating pictures of your hair. Have a friend help you take photos of your hair from the front, back, and sides in outdoor, indirect sunlight to send to me.
-
18 inches is the most common length. This will give you long hair that looks natural. Depending on your natural length, this will work for anyone with hair a couple of inches past their shoulders and longer.
If your hair is very short and/or very thick, we may need to adjust the length of the extensions.
-
Within one week after your wedding, the extensions must be returned to the salon at 224 Whiting Lane in West Hartford, CT 06119, or mailed back (to the same address).
Extensions must be returned in the condition they were received.
The best way to store the extensions is to put them in a braid, so they don’t tangle and then into a Ziplock bag to return.
Wedding Day FAQs
-
Hair must be freshly washed that day or the day before and blown dry smoothly. Hair should have little to no product, as I will be adding whatever is needed.
Hair must be fully dry for styling to stay on schedule unless it’s being styled as a blowout only.
Anyone arriving with wet or damp hair without having only a blowout as their finished style will be charged an additional $25.
Please no flat ironing if a curled style or updo is desired as it does not hold well after being straightened.
It is recommended that those who have their hair done bring inspiration images related to how they want their hair styled unless it is left up to the stylist or bride's discretion.
-
Tops should be easy to change without disrupting hairstyles. Robes, button-downs, and zip-ups are all great options for the morning of the wedding.

Make sure to do a tour of the room prior to your wedding day to ensure there is plenty of space. There will be a lot of people in there especially once the photographer arrives. Hair and makeup artists will both need a table or surface to put their tools on, plenty of outlets for hot tools, and good lighting (Natural light is preferred).
-
You will want a clean, moisturized face for the day of the wedding. Be sure to have any facial treatments or waxing done in advance.
